Privacy Notice

Last Updated: October 20, 2026

Welcome to BluesCalendars.com! We believe discovering great blues music should be easy, enjoyable, and respectful of your privacy.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we protect it, and what choices and rights you have when visiting our website.

BluesCalendars.com provides information about blues festivals, live music venues, and related events around the world.

1. Who We Are

BluesCalendars.com (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website at https://bluescalendars.com.

We are responsible for determining how personal information collected through our website is used and protected.

Website: https://bluescalendars.com
Privacy Contact: info@BluesCalendars.com
Legal Operator: Web Wizardry, Klarenbeekstraat 54 A, 2013 ZH Haarlem NH The Netherlands KvK #42095013

2. Information We Collect

We collect limited information necessary to operate our website, improve its functionality, and help visitors discover blues music.

Information Collected Automatically

When you visit BluesCalendars.com, certain technical information may be collected, including:

  • IP addresses or privacy-protected representations of IP addresses
  • Browser type, operating system, and device information
  • Pages visited and approximate visit times
  • Referring websites
  • Search terms, filters, and interactions with festival and venue listings
  • Links clicked to visit external websites

Information You Voluntarily Provide

If you contact us or submit information about a festival or venue, we may collect the information you provide, such as your name, email address, event details, and correspondence.

Location Information

BluesCalendars.com provides optional location-based features to help visitors discover blues festivals and live music venues near them.

If you authorize browser location access, your browser provides geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude) to our website. These coordinates are transmitted to our server and used to calculate approximate distances to festivals and venues.

Distance calculations are performed on our own server using our geographic and postal code database. Your browser-provided coordinates are not sent to third-party mapping or geolocation services as part of these calculations.

Visitors may also search by postal code and country without granting browser location access.

When a submitted postal code is not found in our database, we may use the Geoapify geocoding service to identify its approximate geographic location. In these cases, the postal code and country are transmitted to Geoapify from our server. The resulting geographic information may be retained in our postal code database to improve future searches.

Location permission is optional and can be withdrawn through your browser settings.

We do not use browser-provided coordinates to track your movements or intentionally maintain a history of your precise physical location. Location-related requests may nevertheless be recorded in routine server logs.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use information collected through our website to:

  • Display blues festivals, venues, and related information
  • Provide location-based search results
  • Improve search accuracy and website navigation
  • Understand which features and listings visitors find useful
  • Monitor website performance and troubleshoot errors
  • Protect against spam, malicious traffic, and unauthorized access
  • Respond to inquiries and requests
  • Comply with applicable legal obligations

We do not sell or rent visitors’ personal information.

4. Website Analytics and Activity Tracking

Independent Analytics

We use Independent Analytics, a WordPress analytics plugin, to understand website traffic and performance.

Independent Analytics stores its analytics records in our WordPress database rather than automatically sending those records to a third-party analytics platform.

Information may include page views, visitor activity, referral sources, approximate geographic information, and device characteristics.

BluesCalendars.com Search and Outbound-Link Analytics

In addition to general website analytics, BluesCalendars.com operates its own analytics system to understand how visitors discover and interact with blues festivals and live music venues.

When visitors follow tracked links to festival websites, venue websites, or associated social media pages, we may record:

  • The festival or venue selected and the type of link clicked
  • The destination website’s hostname
  • The date and time of the interaction
  • Browser and device information
  • The referring website’s hostname
  • An IP address with identifying portions masked
  • A pseudonymous IP-derived identifier that changes daily
  • Approximate geographic information, including country, region, and city

Geographic information for these analytics is determined using a locally maintained GeoLite2 database rather than transmitting visitors’ IP addresses to an external geolocation provider.

We use this information to understand website usage, improve search and listing functionality, evaluate visitor engagement, and identify potentially automated or malicious traffic.

We do not sell this information or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Although we apply IP masking and pseudonymization, some analytics records may remain personal data under applicable privacy laws. We therefore handle them in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

5. Cookies and Browser Storage

BluesCalendars.com may use cookies or browser storage for essential website functionality, security, preferences, or analytics.

Essential cookies support functions necessary for the website to operate.

Any nonessential cookies or similar tracking technologies that require consent under applicable law will be used only after the appropriate consent has been obtained.

You can manage cookies through your browser settings and, where available, our website’s consent controls.

[Complete this section after verifying actual cookies, local storage, session storage, and consent mechanisms.]

6. Third-Party Websites and Services

Our website includes links to independently operated festival websites, music venues, social media pages, and other resources.

When you follow an external link, the destination website may collect information according to its own privacy practices.

We encourage visitors to review the privacy policies of those websites.

BluesCalendars.com may also use external mapping, geocoding, or infrastructure services to support its features.

[Identify any third-party services receiving visitor data, including mapping providers and embedded content services.]

7. Legal Bases for Processing

For visitors protected by the GDPR or UK GDPR, we process personal data only where an appropriate legal basis applies.

Legitimate Interests: To maintain website security, operate essential services, diagnose problems, and perform proportionate website analysis, where our interests are not overridden by individuals’ rights and freedoms.

Consent: Where required, for optional tracking technologies or other activities that depend on permission. Browser geolocation permission is requested separately, but that permission alone does not establish a GDPR legal basis for every subsequent use of location data.

Legal Obligations: Where processing is necessary to comply with applicable laws.

Steps Requested by You: Where applicable, to respond to requests or provide services you have asked us to perform.

8. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy.

Different categories of information may have different retention periods:

  • Website security logs: Retained for operational and security purposes, subject to our configured log-retention policies.
  • Website analytics: Retained for statistical analysis and historical performance comparisons, subject to configured retention and deletion procedures.
  • Search and link activity: Retained for service improvement and reporting, with personal identifiers deleted or anonymized when no longer necessary.
  • Contact correspondence: Retained as needed to respond to inquiries and satisfy applicable legal obligations.
  • Location data: Used to provide requested location-based results, with any server-side storage or logging subject to our data-retention practices.

[Insert verified retention periods or sufficiently specific retention criteria for each category.]

9. International Data Transfers

BluesCalendars.com serves an international audience.

Some service providers or technical infrastructure may process personal data outside the European Economic Area or United Kingdom.

Where international transfers are subject to GDPR or UK GDPR restrictions, we will use an applicable legal transfer mechanism, such as an adequacy decision or appropriate contractual safeguards, where required.

[Verify actual hosting, provider locations, and transfer safeguards before publication.]

10. Your Privacy Rights

If you are protected by the GDPR or UK GDPR, you have the following rights, subject to applicable conditions and exceptions.

Right of Access

You may ask whether we process your personal information and request access to that information.

Right to Rectification

Where applicable, you may request personal data you provided to us in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.

Right to Object

You may object to certain processing based on legitimate interests. You may object to direct marketing at any time.

Right to Withdraw Consent

Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing performed beforehand.
